Myron was born in Carthage, Missouri and lived in many towns growing up. Myron's ministry began and flourished under Pastor Paul Kinney in Canton, Missouri during his high school years. Upon graduating from Gateway College of Evangelism in 1993, Myron moved to Augusta, Maine to become youth pastor of the 1st UPC of Augusta. Later that year on October 2nd, Myron and Shannon were married.

Shannon was born in Waterville, Maine and lived in Augusta, Maine until she married Myron. Shannon is gifted musically, playing the keyboards and singing for the glory of God. She is passionate about empowering others and is a joy to be around.

In April of 2000, God called the Powell's to Caribou, Maine where they re-started the church, and founded Solid Rock Worship Center. From June 4, 2000 until June 27, 2010 the congregation grew from 8 members to 120 members. Myron resigned June 27, 2010 and the next evening, David Sutherland was unanimously ratified to be Myron's successor.

The Powell's have two children, Braxton Michael and Brooklyn Marie, and a yellow lab, Shilow.
